A Psychiatrist is a Medical Doctor who, in addition to diagnosis, can prescribe medications. A Registered Psychologist can provide a clinical diagnosis but does not prescribe medication. A Registered Clinical Counsellor does not diagnose or prescribe medication. All can provide some form of psychotherapeutic intervention. And, all are regulated, licensed and insured by appropriate professional associations requiring strict academic standards and supervised clinical training.
