Back in the good old days, we all knew what a bumper was – that great big chrome-plated steel thing on the front and rear of the car. Nowadays, it is less clear. There is still a metal bumper but you cant see it because it is covered by a more beautiful plastic fascia which is commonly referred to as a bumper cover because it “covers” the metal bumper that is underneath. So what you are calling a “plastic bumper” is what the industry calls a “bumper cover.” Two names for the same part.
