What is the difference between a non-permitted item and a prohibited item?

0

Non-permitted items are items that may not be brought past the security checkpoint as per Transport Canada regulations and may include such items as knives, sports bats and weapons, but may also include items that are seemingly harmless but may be used as a threat to aviation security – such as liquids. Prohibited items are weapons the possession of which is an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada. You are not allowed to have these items in your possession, regardless of whether you are going through a security checkpoint or not.
