What is the difference between a motorway and an expressway?
Motorways are highly controlled, high-speed roads which normally have grade-separated intersections. In other words they have things such as flyovers so that motorists don’t have to stop at traffic lights. Expressways are also high speed roads, but they have well spaced at-grade intersections. This means they may have accesses and driveways on to them and traffic lights.
