What is the difference between a moped and a scooter?
Moped (legal definition) – ANY two-wheeler, with an engine capacity of less than 50cc. Scooter – a STYLE of two-wheeler, as popularised by the mods and epitomised by the Lambretta and Vespa. Scooter engine sizes range from 49cc up to 650cc. You can ride an Aprilia RS-50 with a moped licence (Category P). You need a motorcycle licence (Category A) to ride a Yamaha T-Max.
