Minor Irrigation schemes are those benefiting on Irrigable command area of not more than 15 hectares. Medium Irrigation Schemes are those with a cultivable area of 15 hectares or more, and not more than 10,000 hectares, including Lift Irrigation schemes. Those schemes above 10,000 hectares are Major Irrigation schemes. Those classifications are as per revised Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act 2003, dated 18th September 2003.
