What is the difference between a linear scale vs logarithmic scale.Explain with examples.?
logarithmic scale accomodates greater span than in linear scale. it’s sort of zooming. say to accomodate 10000 by 1/cm we require 10000cm. (minimum value 1) but by logscale each cm can be ten fold so we accomodate 10000 in 4cms (minimum value 1) i) when details over a small span are to be visualised use linear scale ii) when overall picture over a large range is required, use log scale if you are from electronics, following examples will make you appreciate the point. i) transistor characteristics are both scales linear ii) frequency response of transistor amplifiers are both ( or at least freq. scale) log scale.
