What is the difference between a lap top and note book?

There was no basic difference when it all started. But now as technology has advanced new definitions have emerged. Laptop is basically any portable and relatively (Relative to desktops) light computer which has a satisfactory performance (as the name suggest lap-top means a computer which you can place on your lap comfortably), while notebooks are those computers which have mobility at major concern without sacrificing the performance. So every notebook is a laptop but every laptop is not a notebook. Notebooks are generally meant for business personnels and professionals, while laptops are general purpose mobile computers. For example: Dell Studio series are laptops while dell adamo and latitude series are notebooks. I hope that would help.
