What is the difference between a lab analysis and a calculated analysis?

0

A lab analysis is completed by a certified laboratory with analytical capabilities for nutritional composition. If you choose to have your products analyzed by a lab, you will be required to send in carefully labelled samples of your items and the nutritional composition will be determined by the lab using accepted analytical methodology for each nutrient. A calculated nutrient analysis is completed based on your standardized recipe (food samples are not required for a calculated analysis). The calculation is performed using the nutrient data for each ingredient in your recipe and its weight within the recipe. Nutrient data for the ingredients is obtained by Food to Facts from standard nutrient databases (such as Canadian Nutrient File or the USDA National Nutrient Database) and/or your ingredient suppliers.
