What is the difference between a Jungian Analyst and a Psychotherapist?
A Jungian analyst has a post-graduate degree as a prerequisite to more specialized training at an approved Jungian Institute. Requirements vary by Institute, but training is rigorous with no less than four years of intensive personal analysis, supervised practice and course work. A written and oral examination and a thesis are additional requirements for certification. A psychotherapist has a master’s degree from an accredited university that includes two years of course work, exams and a thesis. Following the degree, the psychotherapist must work with clients under supervision for a specific number of hours and take a written exam for licensure in the state where they wish to practice.
