What is the Difference between a Jewelry Appraisal and a Diamond Certificate?
A Diamond Certificate is a document issued by a laboratory describing a loose diamond. The certificate provides a grade indicating the physical properties of the diamond. For a mounted stone or piece of jewelry a Jewelry Appraisal is used. An appraisal indicates an estimated dollar replacement value for the piece under consideration at that specific time. Appraisals are most often used for insurance purposes.
