The GTOLP is an accredited BC public school and as such must follow provincially mandated rules and regulations. This means that a GTOLP student must follow provincially mandated curricula using secular, non-sectarian learning resources under the direction of a BC accredited teacher. The GTOLP student is eligible for a provincially issued Dogwood graduation certificate once graduation requirements are met. The same rules and regulations apply to any public school in the province. “Homeschoolers” are students who are learning outside the provincial public school system, with the parents being solely responsible for the child’s education. The Ministry requires only that parents register homeschooling students with their local public school district. No funding is provided to the family by the province, and such students are not required to follow Ministry of Education learning outcomes.
