What is the difference between a GSM cell phone and a satellite phone?
GSM Cell phones are primarily used on land where there are cell site antennas. They work in most cities and it’s surrounding areas worldwide. However, the signal strength may weaken as you travel to remote areas (i.e. Safaris, remote mountain areas). Satellite phones receive their signal from satellites circling the earth. Satellite phones can receive a signal from anywhere on earth as long as there is a clear line of sight between the satellite phone and the sky. This service is primarily for people traveling on cruises, safaris, & through mountainous areas.
