What is the difference between a flush-mount and a pole-mount installation?
A flush mount installation means the ceiling fan is mounted up close (“flush”) to the ceiling. With a pole-mount installation, the fan is installed using a downrod that extends down from the ceiling. Downrods differ in size depending on how far from the ceiling you want to mount your fan. A 3 downrod will provide a close mount.
