What is the difference between a federal court records search and a state court records search?
Federal Courts handle crimes that violate Federal laws, such as bank robbery, counterfeiting, stealing cars and driving them over a state line, using the mail to defraud, federal narcotics violations, interstate commerce, crimes committed across state lines, etc. If an individual violates a Federal law, only Federal courts will have jurisdiction over the matter and only Federal courts will have a record of the case. Federal District Court searches are available by retrieval service only.
