What is the difference between a drivers license been revoked and suspended?

The difference between a suspended and revoked license is the amount of time. Usually a revoked is for a longer period of time than a suspended and is a lot harder to get back once he fulfills the necessary requirements. I don’t understand if he was arrested for drunk driving how he did not receive a DUI, that just does not make sense at all.
