Dental Assisting is a certificate program. Dental assistants assist the dentist in chair-side procedures, provide dental education, practice management, marketing, direct patient care and basic laboratory procedures. Dental Hygiene is a degree program offered at the U of A. The dental hygienist specializes in oral health education and treatment of the oral cavity (removing deposits and stains).
