What is the difference between a demo and a master?
Demo is short for ‘demonstration’ of what a final production may sound like. However our demos are recorded ‘radio or record label’ ready which means it is to the quality you would expect to be on the radio or good for record label consumption. Most folks that go to a professional studio do not have the tens of thousands of dollars as Record Labels do to record a group of musicians for several weeks and record vocals for a few months in order to get the ‘perfect performance’. Studio technology has changed so much that getting a perfect performance is as much a ‘mix/post’ editing function as it is ‘performance’. However our demos are performed by some of Nashville’s finest studio musicians (we only use studio cats). Also another technical difference between ‘demo’ and ‘master’ is whether or not it is mass produced and sold to the general public (a master) or used as a ‘demo’ for promotional purposes.
