What is the difference between a dedicated server and colocation?
A dedicated server is provided by a Web Hosting company for rental. Customers receive remote access to the server and are able to customize it to suit their needs. However, customers do not have physical access to their dedicated server, which is owned by the web hosting company. Colocation allows you to store your own server at a storage facility owned by a colocation provider. The colocation provider provides an Internet connection to your server and allows you physical access to your own server when you need to service or maintain it.
