What is the difference between a Count and a Baron?

0

In the English system of peerage there is no title of count. There is a title of viscount. A viscount ranks one step above a baron. An Earl ranks just above the viscount, and is considered an equal to the title of Count, which term is only used or derived from the European continent. Further, in the English system, only a Marquess, and finally a Duke rank higher than these other titles, but these last two designations are very seldom created.
