What is the difference between a counselor and a faculty advisor?
A counselor helps students declare programs of study, decide on preliminary course work, and plan for graduation. In addition, counselors help students who have difficulty in academic or personal matters. A faculty advisor is the expert on courses in your program and will assist you in planning your education. Transfer students see their faculty advisor when they have less than 30 hours of credit. AAS degree students see their faculty advisors for the entire time they are in the degreeprogram. Faculty advisors are available in the department that offers your program of study.
