What is the difference between a control joint and an expansion joint in concrete construction?
A control joint is basically a groove cut into the surface of the concrete that allows some cracking to occur in the joint and not be readily visible. An expansion joint is between two separate pieces of concrete or between concrete and another material. The expansion joint allows a space for movement of the two pieces.
