What is the difference between a computer with Intel and a computer with AMD Athlon?

There’s very little difference, really. It’s about the same difference as two cars having engines built by Ford and GM. Intel, AMD and others build micro-processors that are essentially the brains of the computer they are installed in. Some chips are for specific types of computers such as mainframes or telephone company switches, etc. and are designed to work with specific operating systems (system software), but as long as the chips are in PC’s that run Windows, for instance, they are virtually the same. They may run at slightly different speeds and have minor design differences, but they should operate identically.
