What is the difference between a compound and a mixture?
A compound implies some chemical reaction took place, so you don’t have two (or more) separate substances mixed together; the original substances no longer exist – you now have a different and unique third substance. A mixture is just materials mixed together and they haven’t reacted or joined to make something different, they are still the same substances, they are just mixed together.
