What is the difference between a community-owned store and a co-op?

0

A co-op is a membership driven organization and it serves the needs of the membership. Each member has one vote and equal voting power. A Community Department Store is owned by members of the community that want to buy shares, but is also available to the non-shareholding community members as well. Voting power is based upon the number of shares owned per person. There exists within the community owned structure a greater potential for profitability – a benefit we can ALL enjoy.
