What is the difference between a Class I and Class II medical certificate and how do I get them?

A Class I Medical is only required for professional pilots, is slightly more stringent than a Class II Medical with a few additional checks, and is valid for a shorter period of time, ie you need more regular medicals. To be a private license holder you only need a Class II medical, which in most respects is no more demanding than that needed to drive an HGV. If you are in any doubt about whether you would pass the medical, then have one as soon as you’ve decided to train for your helicopter license. There are three or four CAA approved doctors in Essex and we can put you in touch with the most convenient one for you.
