What is the difference between a CELTA and a TEFL?

0

TEFL is the basic teaching qualification, with this, it is possible to get paid jobs abroad. CELTA is the next step up, and is supposedly much harder than the TEFL. It is possible to do a TEFL course within your own time (apart from the weekend course), and can be completed at home. Whereas the CELTA course, it lasts a lot longer and is more in-depth. If you haven’t had any experience of teaching English as a foreign language, then I would recommend that you complete the TEFL first and then get some experience before attempting the CELTA, as this will give you more knowledge on how to teach, plus the CELTA courses are expensive!
