What is the difference between a blazer and a sports jacket?
Traditional blazers are usually double-breasted, made from wool, found only in navy or black, and resplendent in gold or brass buttons. The look is a reflection of the blazer’s nautical and British regimental origins. Sports jackets are usually single-breasted, and you can find them in a variety of colors, styles and fabrics. Casual sports jackets (i.e. in corduroy) often require no tailoring and fitting (they tend to be looser), and can be worn right off the rack. As well, they might feature leather buttons.
