What is the difference between a black rhino and white rhino?
The white rhino is also called the square-lipped rhinoceros. In fact the ‘white’ comes from ‘widje’, the African word for wide, referring to its mouth. With the perfect shaped muzzle for chomping grass on the flat grass lands of Africa, it will happily munch by day or night. Its upper lip isn’t hooked like the black rhino’s. Another difference is that the white rhino has a hump on its neck and its head is longer. The Zambezi river originates in Zambia, (I lived there )and Running for a length of 2700kms, it begins it’s journey as an insignificant little spring in the corner of north-west Zambia in the Mwinilunga District. It bubbles up between the roots of a tree, very close to the border where Zambia, Angola and Zaire meet.
