What is the difference between a BEng degree and a MEng degree?
The MEng degree is now the recommended route to professional accreditation with the Engineering Council. Compared to the BEng degree, it runs for one year longer and requires higher standards throughout the course. Students who qualify with a BEng degree will need to take a further course (called a “matching section”) once they have graduated in order to gain full professional accreditation. Some employers will prefer graduates with MEng degrees. In our degree structure, students who enter a BEng degree can transfer to the MEng at an appropriate point of the course so long as they meet the appropriate academic requirements.
