What is the difference between a BEng and a MEng qualification?
The Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree is a three year undergraduate course covering all the essential material in a particular discipline/area of study. This course is ideal for those who want an engineering degree but who may seek alternative careers such as accountancy or management. For non-UK students, the BEng degree can be particularly attractive as it may satisfy the requirements for becoming a professional engineer in their home country. The Master of Engineering (MEng) degree (also an undergraduate degree) lasts four years and contains much of the same taught material as the BEng programme but provides opportunities for the more able students to undertake extended study. A high standard of work must be maintained for students to remain on, or transfer to, this course.
