What is the difference between a Banner Userid and a McGill ID?
Banner Userid: The Banner Userid is also referred to as an Oracle userid or username. A Banner userid is needed to gain access to the data in the Banner (Oracle) database. Typical use is when you sign on to Banner with the client on your PC. Each userid is tailored to the individual, with security built in to give access to certain data through Banner online forms (with or without update privileges). There are different forms for each system (FIS, HRIS, SIS) and these forms access a range of data from the database. Whenever an authorized user wants access to the Banner database, they need to supply the Banner Userid and password. McGill ID: The McGill ID is also referred to as your McGill person number. It is used to access the Minerva Login Web site where administrative web applications are found. Every McGill staff member has a McGill ID assigned.
