What is the difference between a bachelor of science degree and a bachelor of arts?
Not a whole lot. Earning a Bachelor of Science means that one took more science courses than required for the Bachelor of Arts. Unless you are a science major, there is no special reason to strive toward a B.S. Some people think that employers look upon B.S.s more fondly, but if you’re going into a non-science-based career, there’s no need to take that extra Chem or Physics class. Here at UW-Madison, the difference between the two degree is only three extra science classes and fewer language classes, I believe. In the end, it really won’t matter. Having a science major usually means that you’ll simply end up with a B.S., whereas non-science majors usually end up getting B.A.s just by the courses they take.
