What is the difference between 80% and 100% breakers?

0

All standard Molded Case Circuit Breakers are to be applied for continuous loads up to 80% of their marked amp rating per the NEC. If a circuit breaker is labeled “100%”, then it may be applied to continuous loads up to 100% of its marked rating. Siemens performs additional testing per UL489 to achieve this rating and labels these breakers as 100% rated.
