Since October 2005, the DHS NCSD Software Assurance Program has invested in CWE through project tasks with MITRE Corp. and NIST. NSA has also contributed in related projects. Government-sponsored efforts have enabled collaboration with industry, academia, and international allies who now use CWE and contribute to the evolution of CWE.
