What is the Denny Hastert Yorkville Invitational Tournament?
The DHYIT is the YWC’s main fund raiser. It is a tournament completely organized and run by us. Family members are required to help at this tournament. It is what enables us to keep the costs low for our wrestlers and keep providing them with the support they need to keep wrestling. The DHYIT is usually held in the 3rd weekend of December. Set up occurs on Friday night so that the high school can run its own invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday. Then, after their tournament is done, we reconfigure some things to set the stage for our DHYIT the next day. Current wrestlers, parents, and past wrestlers and parents participate in the execution of this tournament, and it really is one of the top tournaments in the state. The previous YWC president, Greg McCartney, and many of the past coaches, helped to fine tune the tournament into a well run machine that many other schools look to get involved in and be a part of.
