What is the degree philosophy of the MPIA?
The MPIA in Alexandria is student-centered. It is designed to be flexible enough to meet the needs and constraints of working professionals in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. We want to do everything we can to make the program relevant to the real-world needs of working professionals. The program is guided by four instructional principles: Theory and application must be an integral part of the professional education. Comparative conceptual frameworks are used throughout the curriculum to emphasize global perspectives. Inquiry and active learning instructional strategies are explored and used where appropriate.
