What is the definition of tech-house?
The usual definition of tech-house: a more stripped-down take on house, using more synthetic-techno style sounds as opposed to the sampled disco and vocals of regular house. Some individuals also call hard techno with somewhat house-y percussion (clap/hihat patterns etc, like a lot of material on Sweden’s Loop records) tech-house or ‘techno-house’. Tech-y favourites on this list include the sounds of the UK scene (labels like 20:20 Vision, Primitive, Reverberations et al) and some of the more German stuff (Playhouse, Klang). That being said, the list was designed to include a broader scope – lots of deep house is discussed here, and the odd techno or electro record too. If you like it, and it’s in the broad canvas of “underground house”, you can talk about it here!
