What is the definition of pure substance and element?

Pure substance and element: A kind of matter that cannot be separated into other kinds of matter by any physical or chemical process. It always has the same color, taste, texture, composition, and physical properties. It contains only one type of particle.

I don’t know if this will help, but I’d think a pure substance would be a pure mixture of something on the periodic table. Example: 100% Hydrogen Peroxide, 100% Potassium Nitrate And for an element, I would think of it as something found by itself on the periodic table. Example: 100% Helium, 100% Iron I’m not an experienced chemist or anything, but I’m now starting to get into chemistry.
