What is the definition of NCLB Core Course?
An NCLB core course is defined as a course that has been designated by the local educational agency as providing instruction in one or more (multiple subject classes are considered “core”) of the NCLB Core academic subject areas. NCLB defines core academic subject areas as English, reading/language arts, mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics/government, economics, arts, history, and geography. Courses in charter schools must meet the same NCLB core requirements.
