What is the definition of moral and ethics?

0

I think of ethics as a society-accepted code of behavior. The code is established by our society for the perceived betterment of our society. So ethics is society-relative. Morality refers to universal law which we all ought (not just should) obey. A universal law requires a universal lawgiver and that can only be God. While we may not know the right moral answer, we think the right answer does exist out there and that we are not free to just make something up. Those who reject God also reject morality. For them, morality degenerates into mere “following tradition” or “getting along with others” (which usually includes the perception of being nice).
