What is the definition of Index Portfolio?
Investment portfolio that is set up to parallel the performance of a benchmark index, such as the Standard Poors Composite Stock Price Index (S&P 500?). The portfolio tends to hold all or many of the same stocks or bonds that are tracked by the actual index. Index portfolio fees may be lower than those on other portfolios because there is relatively little buying and selling of portfolio securities.
