What is the definition of human subject research?
“Research” means a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to devleop or contribute to generalizable knowledge. “Human subject” means a living individual about whom an investigator conducting research obtains: 1) data through intervention or interaction with the individual, or 2) identifiable private information. If your project does not fit both of these definitions, your project may not require IRB approval.
