What is the definition of corruption in Sierra Leone?
Corruption is commonly defined as the abuse of public office for private gain. It has also been defined as the abuse of entrusted power for personal gain or for the benefit of a group to which one owes allegiance. In our local parlance it is sometimes referred to as yuki yuki (shady deeds). The Anti-Corruption Act does not define the terms corruption or corrupt practices. However, the Act refers to a number of practices as corrupt practices.
