Benedict Arnold was one of George Washington’s generals. He gave secrets and aided the British during the American Revolution. It has been a term that has been used for years to call someone a traitor. Mostly now days it is used jokingly like if you lived in Texas and were a football fan for years and suddenly changed over to Oklahoma you might be called a “Benedict Arnold.” It used to be a very insulting term but it has long since worn off.
