Actually in word a paragraph is any group of words between either the beginning of a document and the next paragraph mark, or between any two paragraph marks. Paragraph marks are made by pressing the Enter key and depending on the system consist of either the CR (Carriage Return), LF (Line Feed) or both together M$ uses CRLF to signal the start of a new paragraph in word. Essentially any time (Assuming you already have text in your word document) that you press the enter key and type a single letter you have added a new paragraph.
