What is the definition of a chemotherapy trained nurse?

Answer Within the intrathecal chemotherapy guidance nurses will not be administering intrathecal chemotherapy but will be checking. When undertaking the checking of intrathecal chemotherapy, nurses should be at least at the same standard as that described in Section 6/10 (page 177) of the Manual of Cancer Services Standards December 2000. Although these standards are adult services based, we would expect the same level of standard to be applied to any area where chemotherapy is delivered. Nurses should either have undertaken a recognised course (such as the N59 course) or have undertaken in–house training for which the content and delivery of training has been documented and which has been judged at least equivalent to the N59 course.
