What is the definition of a Charter Service?
A. Charter service is defined as transportation of a group of persons who pursuant to a common purpose, under a single contract, at a fixed charge for the vehicle, have acquired the exclusive use of the vehicle to travel together under an itinerary either specified in advance or modified after having left the place of origin. Carriers that are operating in charter service are required to file a Motor Carrier of Passenger Permit application, but are not required to file a tariff.
