What is the deadline for applying?

Since Cal America has flexible start dates, there is no specific deadline for applying to study. However, please keep in mind that you should send application and appropriate fees as early as you can. We suggest that you send application at least 8 weeks prior to your course date. This ensures that Cal America has enough time to process your application and mail I-20 to you so that you will have more time to receive your I-20 before you apply for student visa.

SIT considers applications for admission year-round. Once an application is completed, the Admissions Committee makes a decision. Applications are accepted until the class is full and a waiting list of accepted candidates is created.

The general deadline for applying for the fall semester is January 15 and for the spring semester it is October 15. Please be aware that many departments have earlier deadlines than the January 15 or October 15 date. A complete listing of departmental deadlines can be found at the Application Deadlines page. Most departments adhere strictly to the application deadline so it is in your best interest to submit not only your application but all supporting documents well before the posted application deadline. If you are using the online application system, the application deadlines can be found at the Program Information tab. If you are submitting a paper application, the application deadlines can be found on pages 5 and 6 in the GRS application. Please be aware that the downloadable paper application may not have the most up to date information. It is in your best interest to check the departments website for any recently updated information.

We operate on a rolling admissions basis with no set application deadline. We evaluate applications continuously as they are completed and normally make a decision within a week. We recommend submitting all materials required for admission at least 30 days prior to the start date for the term you wish to begin. 60 days prior to the start date is a better target for Canadian and other international students. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible to allow for the best scheduling options, since some course sections may be closed to students registering late. For Canadian students, we stop accepting new applications approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of classes each semester to allow sufficient time for processing immigration forms.
