What is The Dark Tourism Forum and how did it start?
The Dark Tourism Forum is an online resource based project funded and led by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), based in Preston in north-west England. The Dark Tourism Forum comprises of several Partner Institutions from across the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. The founder and Editor of the project, Philip Stone, a University Senior Lecturer from UCLan’s Department of Tourism and Leisure Management launched the Project under the bespoke URL www.dark-tourism.org.uk in September 2005. The Project is aimed at showcasing and signposting dark tourism research and resources, and to facilitate serious discussion and debate within the dark tourism subject areas. During its first year online, the Project has received approximately 100,000 page views from people right across the world…. and is still growing!
